Vegan Baking Tip #1

Don’t have any egg substitute? No sweat! You can whip up a flax egg in no time.

1 egg = 1 flax egg

1 flax egg = 1 T of flax mixed with 3 T of water

The great thing about flax seed is you can get it at any old grocery store which is not always true for egg substitute. (And its super healthy for you!)

Happy baking :)

Bakery Updates

Henry here,

We had a great time at Richmond’s Zinefest this year! The cookie dough truffles were everyone’s favorites. When Andy gets around to charging their camera we will post some pictures of all our confections!

Our next big project are snackadoos for you and your canine companion! We’re focusing our efforts on peanut butter flavors for the moment.

As always if you have any requests shoot us a line.

October Recipe Line-Up

Hey, everyone!

I wanted to give a heads-up of the recipes we’ll be trying out this month. These will be available for custom order, which you can do by sending us a message here on Tumblr or shooting us an email at sweetiepiesbakeryrva@gmail.com. Without further ado, this month’s treats include:

  • thin mints (gluten-free, soy-free)
  • cinnamon pull-apart bread (soy-free, contains almond milk)
  • apple cinnamon pie bars with streusel topping (soy-free, nut-free)
  • pumpkin pasties (soy-free, contains cashews)
  • chocolate chip cookie dough truffles (nut-free)

Again, these will be featured at this month’s First Fridays Art Walk, and they are available for custom order. Remember - if you request an order, you can tweak it to your hearts desire. Want those cookie dough truffles but can’t consume soy? We’ll make you a special batch with hemp milk! Order away, my friends!

Every baked good will be vegan and soy free.

Four out of five will not contain nuts.

One is gluten free. (Without nuts too!)

Any requests?  I think we have our bases covered. (And yours!)

Stay tuned for updates on our exact location!  We hope to see you there.
